ADAS Calibration: Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions collision centers ask most about calibration, turnaround, documentation, and cost.

Calibration Basics

What is ADAS calibration?

ADAS calibration realigns a vehicle's cameras, radar, and sensors to the exact positions its manufacturer specifies. These systems control lane keeping, automatic braking, blind-spot detection, and adaptive cruise control. Even a small shift in sensor position causes them to misread the road, so recalibration restores accurate performance after a repair.

When does a vehicle need ADAS calibration?

Calibration is required after windshield replacement, front or rear collision repair, bumper or grille work, suspension and alignment changes, sensor replacement, and any repair that removes or repositions an ADAS component. When in doubt, send us the estimate and we'll identify exactly what the vehicle needs.

What's the difference between static and dynamic calibration?

Static calibration happens in a controlled bay using manufacturer-specified target boards, measured distances, and consistent lighting. Dynamic calibration requires driving the vehicle at set speeds under real road conditions. Many vehicles require both, and we perform whichever procedure the manufacturer specifies.

Can't the vehicle just be aligned instead?

No. Wheel alignment and ADAS calibration are separate procedures. A vehicle can be perfectly aligned and still have a camera aimed incorrectly. In fact, alignment work often changes the thrust angle enough to require recalibration afterward.

Working With ADAS Titan

How long does an ADAS calibration take?

Most calibrations are completed the same day. Turnaround depends on the number of systems involved and whether the manufacturer requires a road test. When you send your estimate, we'll give you a realistic timeline before we ever pick up the vehicle.

Do you come to my shop, or do I bring the vehicle to you?

Both options are available. We can handle pickup and return so your technicians never leave the floor, or you can bring vehicles to our calibration facility. We build our process around how your shop operates.

What areas do you serve?

We serve collision centers and body shops throughout Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and the San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County, including Anaheim, Santa Ana, Irvine, Riverside, Corona, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, and Pomona.

How do I get started?

Send us your estimate and we'll review it to identify every calibration the vehicle requires. From there, schedule a time through our online booking tool and we'll handle the rest — pickup, calibration, verification, and documented return.

Documentation, Insurance, and Cost

What documentation do I receive?

Every calibration returns with complete pre-scan and post-scan reports, a record of the OEM procedures performed, and verification that each system passed. You can hand this directly to your customer and keep it in your files.

Why does documentation matter for my shop?

If an ADAS system is ever questioned after a repair, your documentation is what proves the work was performed to manufacturer standard. It protects your shop from liability, supports insurance claims, and gives your customer confidence their safety systems were properly restored.

Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes. Our documentation is formatted to give insurers exactly what they need for claims and audits, which helps your calibration line items get approved without back-and-forth.

How much does ADAS calibration cost?

Cost varies by vehicle, by how many systems require calibration, and by whether static, dynamic, or both procedures are needed. Send us your estimate and we'll provide clear pricing upfront — no surprises after the work is done.
